CURRENT OPENINGS:

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

The Senior Accountant performs general accounting activities including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts, preparation and review of journal entries, and review of financial results in accordance with established department policies, procedures with limited supervision.  This individual also prepares reports and analysis of financial information for review by management.  He/she must have a broad knowledge of accounting and finance concepts, and utilizes independent judgment to complete assignments and resolve issues.

 

The Senior Accountant may handle more complex assignments and is a subject matter expert in department operations.  In the absence of the Supervisor and in other situations, as needed, this individual may coordinate work processes and review the daily activities of less experienced staff.

 

Responsibilities

• Perform duties and responsibilities with limited supervision
• P
erform general accounting activities including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts, preparation and review of journal entries, and review of financial results
Identify processing and/or accounting issues and suggest solutions

Prepare and distribute financial reporting
Utilize independent judgment to complete assignments and resolve issues
Challenge existing processes and approaches and provide innovative suggestions that improve operational efficiency, effectiveness, internal controls, and/or customer service
Assist with special projects as requested
May handle more complex assignments


Qualifications

B.S. degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline from an accredited college/university
• Licensed
CPA in the State of California
Minimum of 3-5 years of directly related external work experience in public accounting
Ability to understand the expectations of customers and deliver service that meets or exceeds customers’ needs within policy guidelines
Ability to identify and resolve issues that impact the delivery of quality service

• Effective verbal and written communication skills
Positive “can-do” attitude and approach to responsibilities
Ability to assist and support leadership in addressing new challenges and changes
Demonstrated commitment to the job
Strong teamwork, collaboration, and support skills across different organizational teams
Proficiency in MS Office applications, Lacerte, and QuickBooks
